National Family and Health Survey (NFHS)

The National Family and Health Surveys (NFHS) are India's Demographic and Health Surveys.

Used by Oster (2006) to investigate the effect of access to health facilities on gender inequality in child health investments.

Jayachandran and Kuziemko (2011) use the 1992, 1998, and 2005 waves to show that breastfeeding duration is shorter for girls because the mother wants to have a son (and thus stops breastfeeding in order to get pregnant again).
