The list of middle-income countries seem to include: Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Thailand, etc.

According to Gopinath et al. (2015), the ORBIS database is superior to manufacturing censuses in that the balance sheet data is also available. It is also superior to Compustat or Worldscope in that small, private firms are included in addition to large listed companies.
